Many Virginia Vital records Offices can provide certified copies of marriage certificates for marriages that occurred within the last 100 years, but the dates vary. The state of Division Vital Records holds records dating from January of 1853 to present day. Certified copies of vital records are not available to everyone.

Once the license is issued, there is no waiting period and no blood test is required. The marriage license is valid for 60 calendar days and the marriage must take place in Virginia.
